The Degradation Of Solar Cell - 1003 Words

Solar Cell Degradation in Space Abstract: This paper will present the degradation of solar cell performance when exposed to solar wind in space, particularly in the Van Allen belt region. Also, solar cell theory is mathematically modeled and described using Matlab simulation software accompanied by the SRIM software to generate the targeting data. Follow with the degradation modeling of Si, InGaP/GaAs/Ge triple-junction space solar cells when are exposed to high energy charged particles, especially protons and electrons in the Mega-electron-Volt range. In this model, carrier removal rate of the base layer and damage coefficient of minority carrier diffusion length in each sub-cell are considered as radiation degradation parameters. In addition, this paper will present the status of high radiation-resistant solar cells made from Si, InGaP/GaAs/Ge for space application to guarantee the successful operation of the satellite. This paper reviews recent progress and challenges in the development of solar cell processing and fabrication. The comparison of various solar technologies and future scope for this are briefly reviewed. Next, the issues and challenges in light trapping and the nature of textured interface, quality of the active-layer material and antireflection coatings are detailedRead MoreElectronic Essay1188 Words   |  5 Pages(-- removed HTML --) (-- removed HTML --) InGaN materials have also been proposed as ideal candidates for PV applications especially for high temperature operation or in a harsh environment. The reversible degradation forms can be rectified by fully discharging the cell and then recharging it. The irreversible forms of degradation vary depending on the types of electrodes and the application of the battery. However, the irreversible forms of degradation are majorly linked to the number and depth of the discharge/recharge cycles and the operation temperatures. The primary causes of irreversible degradation include the decomposition of theRead MoreThe Good Things About Solar Energy Essay886 Words   |  4 PagesA. Good things about Solar Energy. Nowadays, they think about the economics to how become it rise. Here are some possible answers: If you invest properly in your solar power today and take advantage of Any grants and tax incentives, even if your electric Bill Do not Go up as they are forecast too, you will Get Your money back over time. Well, within the time of the equipment and sooner if there is a rate increase in the future. B. In either case, the byproducts are water and /or oxygen, which are not polluting and so such engines will not pose any environmental hazard. However, the costs of such engine are relatively very high [ICLEI, 2003] Other than using hydrogen directly as a fuel source, it may also be used to power automobiles and other engines using fuel cells. Electric engine vehicles are vehicles whoseRead MoreThe Future Of Perovskite Solar Panels1745 Words   |  7 PagesFuture Technology In 20 years, our vision is that perovskites will replace the majority of silicon-based solar panels. Perovskite solar cells are composed of perovskite-structured compounds, which are any material with the same crystal structure as calcium titanium oxide (CaTiO3) such as methylammonium lead halides (CH3NH3PbX3, where X represents iodine, bromine, or chlorine). This is because the original â€Å"true† perovskite mineral when it was first found (by Gustav Rose in 1839 in the Ural MountainsRead MoreEssay On Solar Associated Energy1480 Words   |  6 PagesSolar associated energy may be turning into an engaging elective for powering self-sufficient wireless frameworks. This communication framework is more prominent in rural areas for security as a source of safety. Their design configurations frequently include the utilization of efficient antennas and individual photovoltaics. Some photovoltaic technologies are available, but are not limited to emitter wrap-through (EWT) rear-co ntact solar cells, amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin film on the glass substrateRead MoreElectricity is the Main Factor in Producing Carbon Dioxide678 Words   |  3 Pagescalled renewable energy. Some types of renewable energy are Solar, Wind, tidal, sunlight, and hydroelectricity. This is better for the Environment because the electricity is created by naturally instead of chemicals creating carbon dioxide (co2) As listed in question A these chemicals are (gas, oil, and coal). For example solar panels reduce carbon dioxide By using the suns visible light and strength/ heat to power an electrolysis cell that captures and transfers co2 from the air, this techniqueRead MoreReducing Global Warming Essay1522 Words   |  7 Pagesit for growing food or cash crops. In tropical forests, this leads to rapid soil degradation as the soils is too poor to sustain agriculture. Consequently, the farmer is forced to clear another patch of forest using the degraded land for cattle raising. Many parts of North America and Western Europe have become deforested due to unsustainable agriculture, leading to severe soil degradation and in many cases abandonment of the area by the farmer. Selection of Geographic Location According to National Climatic Data Center, the sunniest state is Arizona in United Sates, which is 193 clear days pre year.(1) Yuma City where in Arizona State has 313 days of sunshine. This climatic condition is good for solar power generation. In order to reduce the environment impact, a desert region is a proper choice. There are two more benefits. The cost of land is much cheaper then urban area. In addition, there is no any shelter
